Definition: The American Civil War was a war between the North and the South of the USA.
What happened: The South broke away from the North.
The South disagreed with the President.
They disagreed about slavery. The South used slaves whereas the North wanted slavery to stop.
They disagreed about government power. The South wanted the federal government to be less powerful whereas the North wanted it to be more powerful.
