The Reconstruction Era

The Reconstruction Era was the time after the Civil War.

The country was rebuilt.

Three amendments were added to the Constitution.

The 13^th Amendment was passed in 1865 and abolished slavery.

The 14^th Amendment was passed in 1868 and protects rights (“life, liberty and property”).

The 15^th Amendment was passed in 1870 and granted the right to vote to former slaves.
