Jim Crow Laws
Definition:
After the three Amendments were passed, Jim Crow Laws appeared. They were laws in Southern States which segregated Black people.
Examples:
Black people were separated from white people in schools, restrooms and public swimming pools.
There were carriages
for blacks in trains.
Why were Jim Crow Laws enacted?
White Southerners didn’t want to have equality in society because they were considered superior: they thought Blacks and Whites were not equal.
Black Southerners were called different, inferior and second-class citizens.
